corporéité« [W]e need to rethink the relations between human body and senses with the communication both in creating and in using artistic and other symbols. The specific human corporeality and sensuousness do form the basis of our cultures. Our senses are not universal, but particular. And in this sense our nature, if we can speak of a nature, human nature, determines that of our culture, if we can speak of this too as different from each other. In other words, the symbolic has it’s basis in the real, in the sense that our real physical and historical both natural and cultural sensuousness sets the limits for what and how we can symbolize. » |
