multimodalité« The concepts of multi-modality and intermediality, however, stress the heteronomous nature of texts and media forms. That is their dependence on stuff that is not dependant from their proper area. All in all, we are in a need of a different logic for looking at a whole of different symbolic and media forms. We need to replace the current stress on differences and lack of connections by careful consideration of both differences and similarities, both autonomies and togetherness of different cultural forms. This does not however mean that we should, while studying multi-modalities and intermediality replace identity totally with difference, that we should get rid of any identity whatsoever of different symbolic and media forms. On the contrary, it means rather to ask how identities of different texts and media forms are built from and on differences. » |
